vague madame was born from my exploration of the possible dialogues between the worlds of classical and popular music. The work revolves around a Brazilian song by Guinga and Paulo César Pinheiro called nonsense. The lyrics of this song are in Portuguese but halfway through the song they are sung with a French pronunciation, evoking a phonetic and prosodic meaning for the francophone ear. Thus, the absence of meaning in the two languages is central: French-like words and sentences are created all the time but the listener is not able to extract clear messages building a narrative structure. Vague madame is composed inspired by a few of the poetic images resulting from this ingenious language play.
