close to me, for vibraphone duo, is a work that explores disconnection. Two entities, always close to each other but never exactly together, fall into a kind of game — a repeated attempt to become one. The piece unfolds from two extremely close lines that gradually pull apart, giving rise to parasitic, unintentional melodies and rhythms. Then, at the first sign that the encounter is finally happening, the lines fracture, splitting between the instruments. Paradoxically, this is what forms a single line at last, built, this time, from absolute separation.
