deixar soar is the portuguese expression for the musical term 'let ring'. The piece was written in memory of Mayara Amaral, a guitarist and researcher whose life was taken from her. Yet, contrary to what the title suggests, much of the piece is built from muted, short sounds, symbolizing a life that was silenced, never allowed to ring out.
